PMI of Probolinggo Regency Holds Blood Donation Event with J99 Foundation

PMI Probolinggo Regency is collaborating with the J99 Foundation to hold blood donations at the Regional Transfusion Unit (UTD) Office.

There are many ways used by the Indonesian Red Cross or PMI Probolinggo Regency, East Java, to get blood. One of them is collaborating with many parties to hold blood donations. Friday (10/6/2022), for example, a blood donation was carried out with the J99 Foundation at the PMI Regional Transfusion Unit (UTD) Office, Probolinggo Regency, Sumberlele Village, Kraksaan District, local district.

Unlike usual, this time 100 donors were given basic food packages provided by the J99 Foundation. This activity was held to welcome World Blood Donor Day which is celebrated every June 14.

"This blood donation aims to meet the need for blood in Probolinggo Regency, so that patients who need blood can get enough," said Probolinggo Regency PMI Public Relations Sugianto.

Sugianto explained that the blood stock that is experiencing shortages in PMI Probolinggo Regency is fluctuating and not necessarily. Depends on community needs. Sometimes in certain months there are groups A and B. "But what is certain is that PMI Probolinggo Regency will always try and strive to meet the blood needs of the community," he explained.

In general, Sugianto explained, the availability of blood in PMI Probolinggo Regency is still very limited. For this reason, he hopes that in the future there will be people, individuals and groups, who will be more proactive in donating blood voluntarily.

"We hope that in the future PMI will be able to meet challenges and provide the best for the people of Probolinggo Regency. "For the community, we encourage pro-active people to voluntarily donate blood regularly every 2 months to PMI by coming in person," he stressed.

Sugianto added, to meet blood stocks, PMI always accepts people who want to donate blood at the Probolinggo Regency PMI UPT Office, which is open 24 hours. Based on the 2014 Probolinggo District Health Profile, there were 4,632 donors throughout 2014. Consisting of 3,601 men and 1,031 women.

"We are also collaborating with private companies and institutions to be able to carry out blood donations in order to meet the availability of blood in PMI Probolinggo Regency," he concluded.
